Joanne is CEO of Museums Galleries Scotland, the strategic development body for museums and galleries in Scotland. The sector welcomes an estimated 23.5 million visits a year and generates nearly £662 million for the economy.

This position comes after more than 25 years in heritage, culture and tourism working across both the private and public sector in an exciting range of change and development capacities.

A graduate of the MLI 2010 (Museum Leadership Institute) funded by the Getty Foundation Joanne also has an MBA from Durham University Business School and academic degrees in history, industrial archaeology and museums studies.

Joanne is the founding Chair of the UNESCO Scotland Committee and is passionate about the role of culture in international development and has considerable consultancy experience both in the UK and abroad.
