Museums Galleries Scotland is pleased to announce dates for applying to the latest round of the Recognition Scheme.
Round eight is now open with a January 25th deadline for Notes of Interest. The applicant workshop will take place in February and the closing date for applications will be at the end of June. Decisions will be announced in October 2013.
There are currently 38 Recognised Collections of National Significance open to visitors across the country from Orkney to Dumfries and Galloway. The collections are varied and the vast array of objects they contain reflect centuries of effort to gather, preserve and interpret – from beautifully crafted objects from past ages to everyday items that were integral to the daily lives of our ancestors.
Managed by Museums Galleries Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, the Recognition Scheme ensure Scotland’s most important collections are identified, cared for, protected and promoted to wider audiences. If your collection is awarded Recognition Status you can apply to the Recognition Fund.
