MGS Grants Awarded
During 2023-24 we are running our regular Small Grant and Museum Development Fund programmes, together with our Capital Resilience Fund and Forums Fund.
Capital Resilience Fund
The Scottish Government allocated £500,000 of capital funding to develop resilience in Scotland’s museums.
We have awarded grants of up to £60,000 to support capital costs that directly increase the resilience of museums by increasing energy efficiency, reducing running costs or preventing increases in maintenance and repair costs.

Small Grants Fund
We have awarded grants of up to £15,000 to support museums to develop their work and deliver small-scale project work, equipment purchases, and preparation and scoping work to inform future strategic development.

Museum Development Fund
We have awarded grants of up to £60,000 for Accredited Museums in Scotland to make strategic steps towards becoming more resilient.

Forums Fund
We have awarded grants of up to £12,000 to support geographical forums to overcome barriers they experience in working collaboratively to benefit their membership and the communities they serve. This fund has been made possible by support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund – thanks to National Lottery players.
