The process of applying for a small grant
The Small Grant scheme runs four times a year with a simple application process and relatively fast response time. Applicants are usually notified of a decision within six weeks of the closing date.
Application
Please read the About the Scheme 2011/12 document prior to completing the Small Grant Application form.
Applications can be submitted at anytime and will be considered within the next available round. Applications will not be accepted after 27 October 2011.
Please either post or email your application form to the Grants Development Manager. All applications must be signed and include all supporting document to be eligible. Applicants, who send by email without the signed declaration, must ensure that the final signed page reaches us by the closing date.
Assessment
We will assess:
- If your project meets the scheme criteria
- How well your project fits the purpose of the scheme
- How well your project cuts across our priorities of:
- Business development: Projects which assist you to increase the opportunities for income generation and develop and enhance the skills of your staff and volunteers, including management and leadership skills.
- Audience development: Projects which assist you to understand your existing audiences and reach new audiences
- Product development: Projects which develop your core product of collections and services
- How your project will help you progress against your own forward or development plans
- The quality of your project, drawing on the specialist expertise of Museums Galleries Scotland staff
- The feasibility of your project and your ability to undertake it
- Whether your project represents good value for money
- Your project’s risks in proportion to its cost and benefits
- What improvements your project will bring for you and for the sector
