Our aim is to build partnerships and sustainable relationships at local, national and international levels. We believe that this can add value and efficiency, maximise resources, increase complementarities and help museums and galleries to reach their full potential.
We are committed to collaborating with other organisations to achieve our strategic aims and objectives and to deliver important services to our members. This can be via formal agreements or joint statements of purpose, while others are via less formal arrangements.
We work in partnership with our members on externally funded projects. One example is the MGS Interns Programme.
We also offer support to developing and existing partnerships and have specific guidance for applying in partnership to our grants schemes. For this we would need to see evidence of partnership working.
Our definition of a partnership is:
'An agreed relationship between two or more organisations with a shared vision who gain mutual benefit from working together to achieve common goals'.
A key collaborative relationship is the one that we have with our members, based on shared values, gathering evidence and disseminating best practice across the sector.
The Regional Development Challenge Fund (RDCF) is a recent example of a major partnership programme for museums and galleries.
