Adjacent to Burns Cottage, the iconic birthplace of Robert Burns, the museum contains the world’s most important collection of Burns manuscripts and artefacts. Original manuscripts of Burns’ poems, songs and letters are
complemented by a fascinating collection of personal items belonging to the poet and his family, Burns inspired artworks and other Burns memorabilia. Burns Cottage and Museum form the heart of Burns National Heritage Park,
which also contains Burns Monument and Gardens, Kirk Alloway, the Brig O’Doon and the Tam O’Shanter Experience Visitor Centre.
In July 2007, the museum’s collection was recognised as a collection of national significance.
