Full Event Details:
Callendar House will be unveiling a new exhibition, taking a look at the style of our forefathers. ‘Head to Toe: An exhibition of fashion accessories from the past’ will be open from 29 October 2011 – 07 January 2012, in the 2nd floor galleries of the museum.
From feather boas to electric blue shoes, accessories have always been a way to brighten up an outfit and make a statement. The museum has a rather eclectic collection of accessories and, since we are coming up to the Christmas party season, they thought it would be nice to let people see some cutting edge fashions of the past.
So fluff up your boas, polish your silver and come get some ideas to glam up that little black number. And for the men? It’s the best place to find out about which type of iron works best on that top hat you have at the back of the wardrobe.
For the little ones (4-10 year olds), there will be workshops on how to make accessories as part of the Countdown to Christmas extravaganza. So why not go to the House and get creative and brighten up your festive season.
Admission to Callendar House and all exhibitions is free of charge, and the house is open Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm (allowing at least an hour to look around, last entry is at 4pm). Places on the Countdown to Christmas workshops for children are also free, but space is limited so please book ahead at the central box office in the Steeple, on 01324 506850. Times and dates will be announced during October, and more information can be found on the website www.falkirkcommunitytrust.org
