MEMORIES OF CHILDREN'S GAMES AND SONGS

5th February 2011

Historylinks Museum

Historylinks Museum, in Dornoch, Sutherland is continuing its co-operation with local schools during 2011, with a Primary School project “Games we played, and Songs we sang”. Staff are anxious to speak to anyone with childhood memories of local games and rhymes who would like to be involved in the project.

Questionnaires will be distributed locally, and can be obtained from the museum or library. The school-children will learn the old rhymes and play the old games, and create an archive about this important part of Highland childhood for the future.

Historylinks Museum was among businesses and organisations recognised by the Highland Council recently for their “on-going and valuable contribution to supporting local pupils through skills for work, work experience and enterprise projects”. Curator Peter Wild represented the museum at an awards ceremony held at the end of January.
