Hopetoun House is a unique gem of Europe’s architectural heritage and Scotland’s finest stately home, containing collections of mid 18th century furniture, fine paintings and portraits, and tapestries commissioned or purchased for the House in the course of its history. The oldest part of the house was designed by Sir William Bruce and built between 1699 and 1704. In 1721, William Adam added the magnificent West facade, colonnades and state apartments, which were furnished by John Adam.
