A mixed collection of photos and memorabilia depicting Oban’s history. There is information on the fishing and ferry industry, local sport including Shinty, the first Transatlantic cable and many other fascinating aspects of the town. The Museum started in 1995 as an exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the ending of WWII and there are many exhibits covering Oban in the war years when it was the centre of Strategic Command with Sunderland and Catalina flying boats based in the bay. Large exhibits include a flying boat model with a 14ft wingspan and an old projector from the local cinema.
