Dating from 1583, this former home of the Lairds of Gala was re-opened as an interpretative centre in 1988. Displays tell the story of the house, its inhabitants and the early growth of Galashiels. There is also a lively programme of temporary exhibitions and various aspects of local heritage and the arts. Audio tours. Disabled access to the ground floor.
