This year we are enjoying Europe-wide celebrations for the 1100th anniversary of the establishment of the Abbey of Cluny in France. Cluny became the acknowledged leader of a whole network of priories across the continent, and Paisley Abbey was founded as a Cluniac monastery in 1163. This exhibition explores the wide-ranging influence of Paisley Abbey. It features mediaeval items from the collections including sculpted stones, carved woodwork, manuscripts and some of the material illustrating the daily life of the monks excavated from the Abbey’s Great Drain
