Scotland Street School Museum

Scotland Street School was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.​​

Mackintosh is Glasgow’s most celebrated architect, and Scotland Street School was a functioning school up until 1979. It is now a museum.

Scotland Street School Museum presents the history of education in Scotland as a genuine school experience. It is also an essential destination for Mackintosh enthusiasts and all those interested in the history of design. The museum was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh between 1903 and 1906.

Alongside our temporary exhibition and activities programme, you can follow the interpretation and activity trail around the school. You can also find your family’s old school photograph on our education collection’s database.

You can try out your design skills in the Mackintosh room on touch-screen computer. Our hands-on interactive displays let you experience the classes of yesteryear in our Back to School role playing programme. You can also enjoy refreshments and browse for souvenirs at the Willow Café and Gift Shop.
