Resources to help your collections management

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Reviewing or writing a Collections Care Plan?

You need a CAT.

The Condition Assessment Tool is a computer software program developed by us to help you care for your collections.  It is user friendly, aimed at a wide variety of experience and skills, and for those who work with all types of collections.  Whether you volunteer in your local community museum or work as part of a professional conservation team in a large service, the CAT should prove a useful and straightforward tool.

The CAT is available as a free download via the Collections Link website - just click on the link below:

[Please note that some services may have to obtain employer IT permissions to download the software.]

Records Management e-Learning Tool

Collections Link has announced the publication of a free records management e-learning tool, available for use online at http://www.collectionslink.org.uk/RM-Tool/

The tool is designed to help museums learn how to manage their records, and to make the most effective use of the information they hold. It was developed as part of the Hub Records Project, funded by MLA's Renaissance programme for the London Museums Hub.

Further resources, including the tool installer for download and a Guide to Installation and Customisation, are available on the Collections Link website at www.collectionslink.org.uk/Manage_Info in the 'Learn about managing records in my museum' section.

For further information about Collections Link, contact Eleanor Lovegrove, Collections Trust Marketing Officer or 01223 316028 or by email at eleanor@collectionstrust.org.uk
