Museums Galleries Scotland joins Tourism New Zealand engagement days

< Back to news listing

This week Museums Galleries Scotland will see three staff members travel to New Zealand to take part in a series of meetings and engagement days across the country. The visit, which has been organized with National Services Te Paerangi and Tourism New Zealand, is the culmination of several years of strengthening links between Museums Galleries Scotland and various cultural organisations in New Zealand.

Joanne Orr, CEO of Museums Galleries Scotland and Carl Watt, Head of External Relations will deliver presentations at the INTERCOM Conference in Roturua and following that, will be joined by David Taylor, Scottish Emigration Museum Project Development Manager at Museums Galleries Scotland for five regional events throughout New Zealand.

These events are for people who:
• Work in museums, galleries, libraries and archives
• Have collections related to Scottish emigration, or who are interested in stories relating to Scottish emigration
• Work to promote the cultural sector, or want to see the sector better promoted
• Want to attract more tourists to their business
• Are interested in developing stronger connections with Scotland

Tourism New Zealand and National Services Te Paerangi are also interested in exploring the possibility of adopting an events weekend initiative based on Museums Galleries Scotland’s successful Show Scotland programme
