MGS helps create job opportunities for young unemployed

< Back to news listing

Museums Galleries Scotland, as part of a wider Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations bid, has been successful in securing funding for seventy new jobs from the Department of Work and Pension’s Future Jobs Fund. The fund is of around £1biliion set up to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed 18-24 year olds.

13 of our members across Scotland will benefit from these new positions, with jobs covering all areas of museum work including collections, customer care, exhibitions and education. Up to 5000 jobs are hoped to be created throughout Scotland in a number of sectors, with 47,000 throughout the rest of the UK.
