Following on from the Membership Service Review, the survey we conducted with applicants to MGS Main Grants in 2009/10 and the feedback gathered from claim forms, we felt it was timely to review our grant schemes and the way we administer them. This review also fits with our objectives to continuously review and improve internal processes and review our services to meet the needs of our customers. As a result we have introduced a number of changes to the grant schemes and the supporting application material, which we are confident are responsive to the needs of our members.
Through the main grant scheme in 2010/11 we aim to maintain and develop the sector by encouraging and supporting our full members to deliver projects which achieve strategic change in their organisation and/or the sector. We want to invest, between £5,000 and £30,000 in projects which cut across a number of the scheme’s priorities of business, audience and product development.
Full members are invited to submit a pre-application for the 2010/11 Main Grant Scheme by 6 October 2009. For further information please read our About the Scheme document available online.
In 2010/11 we will be applying the priorities of business, product and audience development to our small grant scheme and introducing a new lower and increased upper limit to the amount available (£150-£5,000, previously up to £2,000). We will also be introducing a new Small Independent Purchase Fund in April 2010 , specifically for our small independents (i.e. those who pay the minimum subscription), offering financial assistance of up to £600, to purchase equipment. There will be no set closing date for the scheme and a very straightforward application form.
Information on the new Small Independents Purchase Fund and changes to the Small Grant Scheme will be available at the end of the financial year, for applications in 2010/11.
