Created and coordinated by Museums Galleries Scotland, Festival of Museums encourages Scotland’s museums and galleries to provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy exciting, entertaining and surprising day or night events over one weekend.
The aims of the Festival of Museums are:
Festival of Museums encourages visitors to learn about and get involved with their local area’s museums and history. We encourage museums and galleries to be ambitious with your plans as exciting events will help you to attract visitors.
MGS also works with Voluntary Arts Scotland to tie in to Voluntary Arts Week and develop partnerships between museums and voluntary arts groups across the artforms. If you are interested in partnering with a voluntary arts group to help with your event this year, just get in touch with us.
Planning to take part in the next Festival of Museums over the weekend of 13 – 15 May 2016? You can now register your event now with this form. Please note that this year the deadline for registering events is Monday 29 February. But please don’t wait until the deadline: it pays to get your information in early as you will benefit from early event publicity activity by MGS and early registration will help us to plan a more effective national advertising campaign.
For further information about Festival of Museums visit our website and if you have any questions about taking part you can contact Eithne Ni Chonghaile on 0131 550 4123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
MGS is now assessing applications made to our Festival of Museums fund and is aiming to inform applicants of the outcomes of these in early January.
