The QIS framework can be used by all museums in Scotland. Using QIS will have positive benefits for staff, services and users by evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of current offerings. This can, in turn, form the basis of a plan of action for improvements and development.
The process will also increase awareness and understanding of:
· The museum’s impact in its community
· How services fit with national priorities and agendas
· How partners view the service
· How users and other stakeholders view the service
· Staff involvement in the service
· Overall strengths and weaknesses.
The continuous improvement on which QIS is based is an ongoing process requiring long-term commitment. Those taking part have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and performance improvement which will help to:
· Make a positive difference to people’s lives and community wellbeing
· Improve user satisfaction and learning outcomes
· Improve staff satisfaction
· Improve efficiency and effectiveness.
QIS will help to capture the outcomes of services in order to demonstrate impact.
Our aim is to create a simple, user-friendly model that meets with existing standards and allows museums to use as evidence materials created for other processes. This will therefore cut down on any duplication of work.
