The information museums will gather for QIS is designed to align and feed into the overarching quality model currently being developed by the Scottish Government – ‘How Good is our Culture and Sport’ (HGIOCS) evaluation and Public Service Improvement Framework (PSIF).
When using HGIOCS for self evaluation, information collected through QIS and other sector models can be used to evaluate the culture and sport service.
In the same way it has been designed to feed into existing quality models used by Local Authorities like Best Value, How Good is our School? and How Good is our Community Learning and Development? Information can feed into Single Outcome Agreements and into HGIOCS, providing guidance of the impact of museums throughout the country.
HGIOCS can be used to provide a high level view of culture and sport provision in Scotland, whereas QIS will allow people to drill down to museum-specific detail. HGIOCS is to be trialed at the same time as QIS.
