Recognition funding

If your collection is awarded Recognised Status you will be invited to apply to the Recognition Fund.  Application is not compulsory - you may think that the award and the public recognition of the importance of your collection are sufficient for your needs.

However, funding to a maximum of £40,000 is available for short improvement projects lasting twelve months or less.  The work you undertake must take forward the aims of the Recognition Scheme and be additional to your current activities.  Up to 100% of the project cost can be grant-assisted.

If you have already received an award from the National Recognition Fund you can apply for funding for a further project, but this must not start until the previous one is finished.  Competition for these grants will be strong so applications will be rigorously assessed to see which best take forward the aims of the scheme.  Successful applications will demonstrate excellence both in their potential impact and in their planning.

For examples of projects that have already been awarded funding, please see Recognition Fund Projects Information in the right hand menu.

How do I apply?

Submitting a note of your intent to apply: Please complete our simple 'note of intention to apply' form before applying to the Recognition Fund.  This will enable us to anticipate the number and type of applications and help us provide a better service to you.

First time applicants: If your collection had recently been awarded Recognised Status you will be sent information on how to apply to the Recognition Fund for the first time. Please do not use the application form featured on this page.

Returning applicants: Organisations submitting a second or subsequent application should download and complete the application form, available from the right hand menu (if asked to enable macros please do so). Please download the About the Fund document for information on the purpose of the fund and criteria.
