The Miners' Library Collection cared for by The Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlockhead

Founded in 1756, the library is the second oldest in Europe. It is an excellent and rare example of a community subscription library and as such it plays an integral role in the story of Scotland’s social history.

The Robert Burns Collection cared for by the National Burns collection Partnership

This definitive collection conveys the richness and power of Robert Burns’ work and the international importance of his legacy, which is further enhanced by that fact that many of the sites were previously home to Burns himself.

The National Burns Collection is also held in museums and galleries in Greater Glasgow & Ayrshire and Edinburgh & the Lothians.

The Archeaology Collection cared for by Dumfries and Galloway Museum Service

This is one of the largest archaeology collections in Scotland it is the primary source of information for understanding the region’s prehistory and history.
