Digital advice service

The Digital Content Action Framework aims to support members to maximise the potential of their digital content.  We offer an advice service through two organisations, the Collections Management Network and UKOLN to help achieve this.  The aim of the service is to make sure that people in our member organisations have access to relevant specialist expertise that builds on practical know-how and direct experience of applying ICT to:

  • Documentation; collections management systems; creation of collection level descriptions; digital copyright - CMN
  • Implementation of collection level descriptions; digital preservation; digitisation standards and interoperability; metadata; aspects of social media - UKOLN

The Collections Management Network is a new UK training and advice consortium providing practical, authoritative solutions for the museum and cultural sectors. The consortium is made up of Susanna Hillhouse, Margaret Harrison, Naomi Korn and Heather Lomas.

UKOLN is a research organisation that aims to inform practice and influence policy in the areas of: digital libraries, information systems, bibliographic management, and web technologies. A centre of excellence in digital information management, it provides advice and services to the library, information and cultural heritage communities. Your enquiries will be answered by Brian Kelly, Marieke Guy or Anne Chapman.

We hope this additional support will enable you to more confidently identify the appropriate ICT solution for your needs and in so doing help us all to deliver the Digital Content Action Framework.

If you have an enquiry relating to the subject areas above please send an email to info@cmnetwork.org.uk or mgs-support@lists.ukoln.ac.uk according to the subject divisions above. The relevant organisation will then respond by phone or email as appropriate.
