Fiona Ballantyne

Biography

Fiona Ballantyne is a marketing and communications specialist working in the arts, culture and tourism sectors, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She has held senior positions in both the private and public sectors and previous posts include Head of Small Business Development with the Scottish Development Agency where she was responsible for fostering entrepreneurship and SDA Director for Tayside and Fife where she held a wide economic development brief.

Between 1990 and 2010, she ran a successful consultancy advising not-for-profit organisations on their marketing and communications strategies. She has held non executive positions in the service, health, communications, education, arts and media sectors and is a former Chair of the Edinburgh Branch of the Institute of Directors.

Fiona is a Trustee of Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and of Music at the Brewhouse. She is also a Member of the Communications Consumer Panel which advises the regulator Ofcom on consumer issues in the markets it regulates. Previous appointments include Vice-Chair of Queen Margaret University, Chair of The Essentia Group, Vice Chair of the BBC Broadcasting Council for Scotland, and Vice Chair of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. Fiona was also a member of the Secretary of State for Scotland’s Expert Panel on the Media in the lead up to the Scottish Parliament.
