Speakers:

Tony Gradwell

Dr Tony Gradwell has both a science degree and a PhD, as well as an MBA. After a successful 23 year career in the private sector, he became an industry adviser in the civil sector for another 23 years. Over his career he has held a wide range of management roles and has over 25 years experience in horizon scanning and strategic foresight activities, with 8 years in a central government futures team. He has delivered many lectures and tutorials on these subjects, both to universities and to civil service colleagues.

Andy Smith

Andy Smith spent over 20 years in the retail industry, mainly in purchasing and marketing functions at the highest level. He then enjoyed a 20-year career within the public sector, firstly as a retail industry adviser with HMRC before becoming a senior adviser in their futures team. He has written and delivered a wide-ranging series of presentations, workshops and course programmes on all aspects of retail trading and management, and on horizon scanning and futures thinking, with particular emphasis upon its practical relevance to individual businesses. His work has been widely used across Government, the retail and leisure industries and academia.
