Living Heritage National Inventory – information session 2
Event Information
Date: 17th February 2026
Time: 10:30 – 12:00 pm
Organiser: MGS
Venue: Online
Intangible Cultural Heritage, or Living Heritage, is cultural heritage that is living and currently practiced: oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, craft, culinary traditions, and much more.
In 2024, the UK Ratified the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
As a commitment to ratification, a National Inventory for Living Heritage in the UK has been established.
There are devolved National Inventories for Living Heritage in each UK nation; this session is open to anyone interested in learning more about listing their Living Heritage on the National Inventory for Scotland. Attendees can join as community spokespeople, tradition bearers, representatives from museums or other cultural organisations, or anyone interested in finding out more.
Are you interested in putting an example of Living Heritage in Scotland forward for inscription on the National Inventory?
As one of two Community Support Hubs for Scotland, MGS invites you to learn more about the Inventorying process, and to pose any questions to representatives of the ICH in Scotland Partnership about engaging with the Living Heritage National Inventory.
The session will be delivered on Teams. A link will be sent out prior to the event.
