Planning and running family workshops
Event information
Date: 10th February
Time: 10:00am-12:30pm
Organiser: Kids in Museums
Venue: Online
Tickets: £5-£40
Do you want to know more about how to plan and facilitate family museum workshops, so they are suitable for a range of ages? This session will look at the practicalities of running family workshops, learn about the developmental stages of children aged 0-12, gain an understanding of different facilitation styles to build confidence when interacting with children of different age groups and make plans to put the training into practice in your organisation.
Many families participating in museum workshops will include siblings of different ages – who also may be at different developmental stages. By considering how different ages are likely to engage you can create activities that are fun, engaging and relevant to a wide range of families. Exploring different methods of facilitation can also help you to adapt your approach to support more participants during sessions.
In this session, you will:
- think about the practicalities of running family workshops,
- learn about the developmental stages of children aged 0-12 to help you plan appropriate activities,
- gain an understanding of different facilitation styles to build confidence when interacting with children of different age groups,
- make plans to put the training into practice in your organisation.
Who’s this for:
This training is aimed at staff who work in museums, art galleries and heritage sites who have limited experience in planning and running family workshops.
