Who do objects from Global Majority Cultures in Scottish Museums really belong to? And how can they be honoured and returned to their rightful place? What does Repatriation mean actually and what are some considerations and actions Scottish museums should consider as they engage this topic?

What is repatriation, actually? Is an event for Black people, people of colour, and/or those who identify as part of the Global Majority, to come together to discuss and reflect on some of the big questions museums are faced with today. The session, held in a private and relaxed environment at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will be facilitated by members of staff with a remit in Empire, Slavery in Scotland’s Museums, and includes guest input.

Refreshments will be provided.

This event is supported by an Access Fund and we don’t want to turn anyone away due to lack of access (please let us know your requirements during registration and ensure you answer all of the questions when signing up).

Please see Glasgow Life’s website for details about the venue’s accessibility.

Attendance is free, registration essential! We can’t wait to see you there!
