COVID-19 Emergency Funds Awards

COVID-19 Emergency Funds Awards

Introduction

To support the sector through this challenging time Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) has created several funds to respond to sector needs brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. To immediately address the situation the Scottish Government provided £700,000 of funding for MGS to distribute through an Urgent Response Fund for independent museums and galleries. We also created a fund to help museums to purchase the necessary equipment to work from home and to provide digital access to museum collections and activity. Both of these funds have now closed. Currently running is a fund to help organisations to adapt their museums to enable them to reopen safely and in accordance with restrictions due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In August 2020 we are opening a £4 million Recovery and Resilience Fund to support independent museums to recover from the impact of the pandemic and build their resilience.
