Learning and Engagement Volunteer at Museum of the Royal Regiment of Scotland

Based within the historic site of Edinburgh Castle, our learning programme is operated in partnership with The Museum of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Royal Scots Museum and The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum. We offer themed school workshops, community sessions and creative activities both in-person and online via our Regimental Museums Learning Hub.

You will assist the Learning Officer with delivery of themed workshops which contribute to the successful running of our school learning programme. This will involve presenting information to small groups of school learners, object handling, and asking and answering questions. From time to time there may be opportunities to take part in other projects or activities, including assisting with community outreach sessions or drop-in craft activities.

It is important to have strong verbal communication skills as presenting to a small audience will be a key part of your role with us. You should also have an ability to work with groups of all ages and experiences, and an enthusiasm for working with children and/or young people. This role will give you the chance to show off some creativity and develop organisational skills. A passion for history and some knowledge of British military history is helpful but not essential. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about our Regiments once you’ve joined the team!

Due to the nature of the role, the completion of an application to the PVG scheme is an essential requirement. Successful applicants will be supported through this simple process and all costs are covered.
