Project Outreach Officer at St Andrews Preservation Trust
Working Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term for 8 months
Salary: £24,500 pro rata

About the Role
The Project Outreach Officer will help deliver the Trust’s plans for our museum redevelopment, which will see the biggest transformation of the museum and garden in its 40-year history.
Exciting plans are underway to improve the visitor experience through a new outreach programme, re-imagined displays, new facilities and improved access.
We are very proud of our Museum – which enjoys the support of a dedicated volunteer workforce – and want to encourage more, and new, visitors to this ‘hidden gem’ within St Andrews. This ambition is at the heart of this role.
This position is best suited for a candidate with experience of working in cooperation with a wide range of organisations and with demonstrable knowledge and experience of developing and delivering programmes, activities and interpretation within a heritage context.
Main responsibilities
Outreach
- Deliver outreach activities outlined in the Project Activity plan with local groups, local
people, and museum volunteers, ensuring key project outcomes are met. - Support the development and delivery of two temporary exhibitions co-curated with local
community groups. - Work with a project consultant to support the evaluation of key project activities,
including outreach, education, wellbeing and inclusion, on an ongoing basis. - Support with the production of marketing materials.
- Prepare monthly progress reports for the Museum Project Board.
People
- Lead on the implementation of a Volunteer Strategy and Succession Plan to ensure the
museum has the necessary skills and experience for the future. - Facilitate training opportunities for volunteers and lead on the recruitment, induction and
management of key project volunteers. - Maintain active partnerships with local and national organisations who work in cooperation
with the Trust and its museum. - Help to build a sense of local ownership, strengthening partnerships with relevant local
organisations and identifying new relationship.
Museum responsibilities

- Undertake further training as deemed necessary.
- Input and develop the Museum’s key policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- A proven track record of
developing and delivering
activities for a range of
audiences. - Demonstrable knowledge of the
Curriculum for Excellence. - Office including Excel,
Word, PowerPoint. - Highly numerate and
literate. - Delivering activities for a
wide range of audiences. - Managing and training
volunteers. - Developing interpretation in a
museum environment. - Excellent communication skills
and the ability to communicate
with a variety of audiences. - Good understanding and
experience of digital
opportunities including social
media, apps, websites. - Budget management and
reporting.
Desirable
- Knowledge of cultural sector
agendas. - Enthusiasm for, and
knowledge of social history
collections. - Demonstrable knowledge of
