About the Event
Have you got an exhibition that you'd like to take on tour, but you don't have a clue where to start? Join Museums Galleries Scotland and the Touring Exhibitions Group and find out how taking an exhibition out on tour doesn't need to be daunting.
Beginning to Tour provides basic skills and knowledge for creating and managing touring programmes. The seminar is aimed at organisations and independent professionals interested in producing their own touring exhibitions or to hire exhibitions for their venue. The seminar encourages active learning by sharing up-to-date examples of best practice and creating practical resources, taking you through all of the principal stages of delivering a touring exhibition.
Participants will consider their own aims and objectives and key questions that can be used to assess the viability of an exhibition idea. Through active discussion of case studies, different funding models and sources, we will discuss the best approaches to funding applications. Participants will be encouraged to consider how to market their exhibitions for tour and assess whether venues are suitable. There will also be an opportunity to view examples of agreements for touring exhibitions and consider different approaches to effective evaluation.
The seminar will be delivered by Alice Lobb, Touring Exhibitions Group Trainer and Exhibitions Manager at the Barbican, London, who will draw on her wealth of touring experience to support delegates to gain the confidence and skills to begin to tour.Register online
