Titilayo is Empire, Slavery & Scotland’s Museum Manager. It is their job to support Museums and Galleries across Scotland to implement the six recommendations published by the Scottish Government in 2022, to recognise and address the historic and continuous impact of Colonialism, Slavery, and Empire in Scotland and across the world.

Titilayo is an experienced social justice educator and organiser with a focus on anti-racism and understanding colonial structures and legacies. To Titilayo it is crucial to centre the experiences of Black people and people of colour who are made to face marginalisation, structural discrimination in Scotland and across the diaspora. The work of addressing historic legacies of empire, slavery and colonialism is a task we all need to be involved in and learn about together – everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part. Titilayo is an excellent point of contact if you want to start Anti-racism work at your organisation, are interested in implementing one or all of the recommendations, or have already started doing this work and need some support along the way.
