Museums Galleries Scotland developed the National Strategy, 'Going Further', in consultation with Scotland’s museums sector, and it was launched in March 2012. The compelling and inclusive shared vision has greater public value firmly at its heart.
Our Board helps provide support and direction to our organisation. They bring to our organisation a wide range of skills and experience in business, academia and the cultural sector.
The wealth generated from the systems of chattel slavery and colonialism enriched Scotland at the expense of the places which were colonised. Scotland’s museums sector is increasingly vocal in their commitment to use their collections to acknowledge and confront our history. This project, sponsored by the Scottish Government, will explore how museums can address and contribute to our understanding of the legacies of chattel slavery, empire and colonialism.
Forum Connections is a 4-year, NLHF-funded project designed to build the capacity of Scotland’s museums for partnership working through investment in Scotland’s geographic forums.
The NLHF funded Business Support Programme, ‘Surviving to Thriving’ (StT) has been developed by MGS, Built Environment Forum Scotland (BEFS), and greenspace scotland to support heritage organisations in Scotland to develop sustainable business models.
