Creating hands-on gallery resources for families

Interactive resources enrich family visits in many ways. During this session, we will be exploring the process of developing static hands-on resources. We’ll cover everything from digital touchscreen interactives to play-based loose parts items, including plenty of practical tips and ideas you can apply to your own venue.

The session will help delegates to:

• Discuss how to plan to introduce new hands-on resources for families
• Gain an understanding of play and learning styles to help you create resources to suit a wider range of children
• Find out how to adapt your resources for different age groups
• Think about key considerations for creating in-gallery digital interactives, including digital skills, budgeting, accessibility, AI, and audience behaviour
• Hear a case study from Hull Museums and Gallery about how they developed new interactive resources for families as part of the Hull Maritime Museum redevelopment project
• Think about how you consult with families to develop your provision
