Join us for a panel discussion with three museum workers whose innovative approaches to energy, technology, and visitor experience have transformed the financial sustainability of their organisations.
This event is aimed at museum workers who are interested in identifying new approaches that will generate income and build organisational resilience. It will explore how to create the conditions for innovative thinking by highlighting several success stories from Scottish museums.
The speakers are:
- Thania Meneses, Trimontium
Thania will be discussing their new ‘Trimontium VR Experience’ where the Roman invasions of Scotland meet the 21st century. Thania will explain how a combination of immersive technologies have brought this exciting, innovative experience to life. - Ashleigh Pink, Dundee Heritage Trust
Ashleigh is here to talk us through their Discovery Mast Climb Experience. This exhilarating experience takes place aboard RRS Discovery where visitors can climb the historic rigging and scale the foremast of Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic ship. - Jon Evans, The Museum of Lead Mining
This museum is just starting out on an exciting and pioneering approach to generating energy. Working alongside Edinburgh University, Jon and the team have developed an innovative water source heat exchange system which will provide hot water and heating to their visitor centre.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the panellists questions. Our Museum Futures team will also be at the event to highlight our Innovation Fund and answer any questions you may have.
This Innovation Panel Discussion is offered as part of the Museum Futures wraparound programme, which has been developed in direct response to the significant and ongoing financial and capacity challenges faced by the museum sector.
