New Chair of the Recognition Committee appointed

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Chanté St Clair Inglis as the new Chair of the Recognition Committee.

Chanté currently serves as the Director of Heritage and Estates at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She brings extensive experience in developing and promoting diverse collections and has played leading roles in significant sector initiatives, including the development of the National Museums Collection Centre in Granton, Edinburgh. She also contributes expertise through governance and advisory roles across the sector, serving on the Museums Association’s Ethics Committee and as a Trustee of the Collections Trust. In addition, she supports cultural restitution efforts through advisory panels in both Scotland and Ireland.

The Recognition Committee oversees the Recognition Scheme, which promotes and supports Scotland’s nationally significant collections beyond those held in the national museums and galleries. The scheme is delivered by Museums Galleries Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government. The scheme was paused in 2023 to undergo a comprehensive review and reopened for applications earlier this year.

As Chair of the Recognition Committee, Chanté will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility, sustainability, and collective impact of Scotland’s nationally significant collections.
