Scottish Parliament seeks views to help shape Scotland's future budget for culture

Three large lighthouse lenses on display in a room with white walls and a blue floor. The glass bands of the lenses shine with white, yellow, and green light.

The Scottish Parliament’s Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee is seeking input from individuals, groups, and businesses operating within the culture sector. These responses will inform recommendations to the Scottish Government ahead of its Budget decisions for 2025-26.

As the development body for Scotland’s Museums and Galleries, MGS will make a submission on behalf of the sector. However, we encourage individual submissions to the committee if you have the capacity to do so. A greater number of submissions will help to build a stronger case for the financial needs of the sector and provide a clear picture of the challenges you are facing.

The call for views closes on 9th August 2024.

We are conducting a sector survey in partnership with DC Research and any responses received by 25th July will be included in our submission to the Committee. A member of your organisation should have received an email from us last week with details.

Responses to this survey will provide us with an up-to-date picture of the sector and allow us to advocate and make a strong case for Scotland’s museums and galleries.

Our survey will remain open until 16th August to continue to gather information on the current state of the sector and understand how organisations are progressing in line with the Strategy for Scotland’s Museums and galleries outcomes.

If you have any questions about our survey with DC Research please get in touch with us at Inform@museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk
