Elena Trimarchi

Senior Museum Development Manager | She/Her
An adult with light skin, long straight dark brown hair, and a navy blue dress.

Elena joined the MGS team in January 2026. Elena is responsible for the ‘Education’ and ‘Health & Wellbeing’ areas of Scotland’s Museums and Galleries Strategy and job shares the role of Senior Museum Development Manager with Ellie Muniandy. Outside of MGS, Elena also works at a national organisation as Projects Coordinator.

Elena has worked in a variety of museums, heritage, and gallery roles in Scotland since 2009. Her experience includes being a Volunteer Tour Guide (her very first role), Front of House and Learning and Engagement roles in national, membership, and independent museums and heritage organisations. Her research interests have included Italian Renaissance art, accessibility in museums (specifically around ensuring learning opportunities reflect the needs of children on the autism spectrum), and anti-racist and equitable approaches to museum practice.

In her spare time, Elena loves spending time outdoors at her allotment, walking around Scotland, and noticing the small and big wonders of the world. Luckily, seeing as she lives in Glasgow (where the grass is always greener – because it rains a lot), she also has indoor hobbies, mostly fibre craft: crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, and she enjoys making tasty food.

Passionate about social justice, food production and sovereignty, and children and young people, Elena also volunteers in her local community at a local children’s play therapy charity and her allotment association.
