Jacob O’Sullivan is Museum Development Manager – Collections & Interpretation with Museums Galleries Scotland. He supports museums and galleries through providing advice and guidance on issues relating to museum collections, and how they are managed and interpreted. He manages the Recognition Scheme, and co-ordinates the approach to safeguarding and celebrating Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as co-programming the Knowledge Exchange series. He is a member of the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel (SAFAP).

Jacob is interested in how Intangible Cultural Heritage and museum collections can be utilised to explore hidden, under-told, and engaging stories, and be more representative of and meaningful to a wider range of people. Jacob came to MGS in 2016, having worked in several open-air folk museums in Scotland, Ireland, and the Isle of Man. He has a keen interest in Folk Horror, ghost stories, Post-Punk music, and poetry, and organises a monthly ‘Poetry & Pints’ evening in Leith.
