Small Grants Fund awarded to 7 organisations

The village of Helmsdale. Situated next to a stone bridge which crosses a river is Timespan Heritage Centre, a metal building with grey and yellow walls.

We’re delighted to announce that seven organisations from across Scotland have been awarded the Small Grants Fund. From climate action displays, to community led building design, the awarded museums are using the grants to create a more sustainable and inclusive sector. The fund is supported thanks to the Scottish Government.

The awarded projects have strong connections to Scotland’s Museums and Galleries Strategy. They include ANGUSalive museums who will use the funding to increase their financial sustainability through strategically designing and curating the retail offering in their museums and galleries. Glenfinnan Station Museum are engaging with climate action through creating a permanent open-air exhibition space to explain snow clearance methods of the past, whilst highlighting it in the context of Scotland’s current and future climate change. Museums and Heritage Highland, a forum group for heritage organisations in the Highlands, will use the funding to support the growth, diversity, and strengthening of the museum workforce across the region. They will do this through exploring best practice in working with younger volunteers, remote volunteers, and in embedding well-being into organisations.
