Gillian Simison 

Gillian’s role as Head of Museum Development and a member of the Executive Team provides the strategic lead on Museums Galleries Scotland services to the Scottish Museums sector, supporting it to deliver the Strategy for Scotland’s Museums and Galleries. She heads up the Museum Development Team who support museums to develop through targeted programming and grant funding, advice, standards, sharing best practice, building understanding of the sector and its needs and providing opportunities for connection.

Gillian came into MGS from a background of working in collections and exhibitions in museums, particularly art collections. She continues to indulge her love of art by visiting the wealth of exhibitions available in Edinburgh and beyond and occasionally getting out her sketch book.
