Creating Content for Black History Month

Do you use social media to promote Scottish history, heritage, archaeology, museums or archives?

Event information

Date: 5 June , 2024

Time: 15:00 – 16:00

Organiser: Scottish Heritage Social Media Group

Venue: Online

Join Scottish Heritage Social Media Group’s (SHSMG) free event to talk with people in similar roles, share your social media insights, ask questions and pick up practical tips.

During this event, we’ll be hearing from Amy Rich, Communities and Campaigns Officer at the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER), who coordinate the programme of events for Black History Month in Scotland every October.

Amy will explain how people in social media roles in heritage organisations can support Black History Month, even if they don’t have any budget or a say in their organisation’s event programming.

She will cover what Black History Month is, why it’s important to create social media content for Black History Month (even if you’re not running any events or don’t have anything new to share), and how content creators can avoid tokenism with their Black History Month social media posts.

There will be time for a Q&A session and general discussion towards the end of the event, but please feel free to head off at any point.
