Joe Setch

Joe works as a Marketing and Communications Officer at MGS (Museums Galleries Scotland), creating copy and content for social media, the MGS website, and assorted projects. He also offers social media and marketing advice to museums and galleries. Anyone with a question about marketing is more than welcome to get in touch.

Joe is a major fan of concise writing, clear messaging, and eye-catching visuals. He’s often found puzzling over proofreads or running about with his camera.

He previously worked in a front-of-house role at National Museums Scotland and as part of the collections team at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. These experiences have given him a great insight into how museums communicate their values, interpret their collections, and engage with their audiences. 

Some of Joe’s favourite things are badminton, arty bits, patterned jumpers, and grand strategy gaming. As a history graduate, he loves to see how museums explore Scotland’s early modern and LGBTQ+ histories.
