Karen is Skills Development Manager at Museums Galleries Scotland, responsible for the uptake and delivery of the Museums and Galleries Technician Modern Apprenticeship. As an SQA Co-ordinator and Scottish Vocational Qualifications Assessor, Karen supports skills-based initiatives that help individuals learn new skills and experiences. Karen has the pleasure of visiting cultural venues across Scotland and seeing firsthand the energy and dedication apprentices can bring to the workplace.
Karen has worked in education for nearly 20 years, as a classroom teacher and museum learning officer, and is passionate about supporting those on a learning journey to find the career they want in the heritage sector.
Karen lives by the sea and loves to paddle-board, kayak, and occasionally brave a bit of sea-swimming. Travel, live events, visiting cultural venues and the odd pint of Guinness are a few of Karen’s favourite things.
