Developing My Leadership Programme
As we look to the future, effective leadership will be essential to support thriving and resilient organisations in Scotland.
We support aspiring and established leaders in the heritage sector to increase their leadership skills, understand concepts of emotional intelligence to work productively with those around them, and lead in an effective and authentic way.
Developing My Leadership is delivered in partnership with Social Enterprise Academy (SEA). They successfully deliver leadership programmes to third sector organisations across Scotland and in 12 countries internationally.
“I attended the leadership training a couple of years ago and it was honestly the best training course I have ever been on. It was a great way to learn more about myself and understand my colleagues better”
Over six online sessions, new or aspiring leaders will form a cohort with their peers to learn established leadership theories and develop the self-awareness and emotional intelligence necessary to be confident leaders. Participants also learn practical skills and tools in areas such as communication, conflict management, delegation, and coaching, which they can apply to their work for the benefit of their colleagues and organisations.
The learning aims for the programme focus on three areas of leadership:
Leading and Understanding Myself
- Personal visioning
- Personal preferences and strengths
- Listening and emotional intelligence
- Personal leadership goals
Leading and Understanding Others
- Leadership styles and approaches
- Motivating and empowering others
- Adopting a coaching approach and developing questioning skills
Leading in Your Organisation
- Team dynamics and diversity
- Communication skills and courageous conversations
- Managing change and transitions

“The advice and the wider training helped me set my career in a more positive direction. The qualification I received through the course was the icing on the cake of a really great experience.”
Participants have the option to undertake an assessment to accredit their learning and gain a 10-credit SCQF level 9 leadership qualification with Glasgow Caledonian University. The cost of registration for this additional assessment is £125 per learner.
The Developing My Leadership programme runs twice a year.
