Our Fair Work Statement

We are committed to supporting museums and galleries in Scotland to deliver better recruitment and employment practices through resources, training, advice, and the Scottish Government guidance on Fair Work First.

We will encourage and support the sector to:

Grants

In line with the Scottish Government’s requirement to verify organisations commitment to Fair Work First principles we have revised our grant conditions to reflect the initial requirement that organisations ensure workers receive payment of at least the Real Living Wage and have access to appropriate channels for effective voice.

Our Grants Programme require that all applicants provide evidence that they comply with these requirements by completing an Employer Declaration form and returning it to grants@museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk. You can access that form and further guidance on our Fair Work First – Guidance for funding applicants webpage.

Support

We create and signpost to recruitment and employment resources to promote best practice, and welcome museums and galleries to talk to us about their Fair Work practices. Contact Markus Offer, MGS Skills Development Manager, at MarkusO@museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk.

MGS strives to increase the skills of the sector’s workforce and address barriers to accessible training through a programme of inclusive, tailored, and accredited activities. The Workforce Development Programme provides a range of skills development opportunities for staff and volunteers within the sector.
