Introducing the Museum Futures delivery team
Launched in July this year, the Museum Futures programme has been developed in direct response to the significant and ongoing financial and capacity challenges faced by the sector.
The programme is backed by £4 million of Scottish Government funding and was developed in partnership with the Scottish Government, Museums Galleries Scotland, and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The programme offers a suite of targeted funding and wraparound support, which includes training programmes for the museum sector workforce and access to various resources.
To support the delivery of the programme, we have established a dedicated Museum Futures delivery team.
Markus is the Senior Capacity Programme Manager for Museum Futures. He regularly meets with museum staff either through site visits or online meetings to gather information using the Organisational Health Checker. This allows him to gain an understanding of common challenges and offer tailored advice. Markus works with existing partners and support agencies, as well as building new strategic relationships.
Erin is the Capacity Programme Officer for Museum Futures. She plays a key role in fostering relationships with partner organisations as well as supporting museums to engage with the programme by working to understand their needs and areas for development. Erin also works closely with the Grants Team, supporting the delivery of programme funding, and with the Skills Team on skills programming activity.
Jena is the Capacity Programme Assistant for Museum Futures. She plays a key role in organising the administration of training programmes, coordinating training events, and liaising with training providers and participants. She also supports Programme Officer, Erin with project plans, maintaining information systems for monitoring and evaluation, fostering relationships with programme partners and participants, and managing programme inquiries.
Gillian is the Skills Development Manager at MGS. She supports the development, delivery, and evaluation of all our workforce development programmes. She supports Museum Futures by helping to create skills development opportunities as part of the programme.
Outside of the core delivery team, staff across MGS are supporting programme delivery through marketing and communications, grants support, and information gathering to better understand sector needs.
As funding opportunities and wraparound support continue to roll out, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the team with any questions you may have by emailing MuseumFutures@museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk
